Alpha Baking Co. Inc., Chicago, promoted three employees to vice president positions. Gary Narcisi, vice president sales, was promoted to group vice president, frozen foodservice and retail divisions. Narcisi has been with Alpha Baking Co. for 19 years. Joe Nemethy, director of retail sales, was named vice president sales, retail division. Nemethy has been with the company for 13 years. Tim Gill, director of sales, frozen foodservice division, was appointed vice president sales, frozen foodservice division. Gill has been with Alpha Baking for 11 years.

Don Coffey

MGP Ingredients Inc.'s (MGPI), Atichison, Kan., board of directors appointed Don Coffey, Ph.D., an officer of the company. Coffey was named executive vice president, ingredient solutions in June, and he joined MGPI in July 2007 as vice president, innovation.

Ladd Seaberg, chairman of the board of directors, MGPI, was elected to a new term on the board. Tim New-kirk, president and C.E.O., was elected to fill a seat on the board previously held by Randy Schrick, vice president of engineering and corporate director of distillery manufacturing. Gary Gradinger, chairman and C.E.O., Golden Star Inc., Kansas City, Mo., also was re-elected to a new term on the board. All three terms expire in 2011.

Mathias Lee

Mathias Lee was named vice president, sales for Spiroflow Systems Inc., Charlotte, N.C. Lee, who has been with Spiroflow Systems for more than three years, will be responsible for all day-to-day sales activities for the United States and Canada, and export activities to Mexico, Central America and South America.

Carol Shuttleworth, president, C.E.O., Shuttleworth Inc., Huntington, Ind., was elected to the board of directors of the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) during its annual meeting in Washington, D.C. Shuttleworth will be one of 16 directors and will serve a four-year term beginning in 2009.

Jody Renner-Nantz, food chemist for D.D. Williamson, Louisville, Ky., will discuss heat and light stability of select red colorings at the Global Outlook for Food Color Conference in Atlanta, Dec. 3-5.
